Day 1

9.00am - 10.30am

  • Basic introduction, Nei gong.
  • Introduction to Jan Jong.
  • Examination of body posture and movement in kung fu. 6 harmonies, how they relate to power in kung fu, demo and theory.
  • Body connection for holistic power/application.

BREAK. DISCUSSION. QUESTIONS.


10.45am - 11.45am

  • Kung fu warm up!
  • Theory and demonstration of how kung fu is easy!
  • Demonstration of basic hand positions and weapons, how different joints and limbs function and affect "centre."
  • Basic Chin Na holds and grabs.
  • Single hand step in exercise.
  • Minimum safe distance.

LUNCH

12.45pm - 1.45pm

  • Attack and stop the hook. Use of bone structure.
  • The Dantien. How everything derives power and moves from the waist.
  • Slow walking-straight/circular.
  • Slow kicking and some of the mental images used for such exercises.
  • Directions of force.
  • Demonstration in relation to fighting.
  • Rising force - inside and outside.
  • Falling force - entry form.
  • BREAK. DISCUSSION. QUESTIONS.

2.00pm - 3.00pm

  • Grabbing hands, the use of, in relation to direction of force, and changes of direction.
  • Introduction to basic chi sao (sticking hands). What is it for?
  • Useful exercises with chi sao. Provoke and fold.
  • Catching elbows. Re-direction of forces (hook).
  • Hand and foot speed exercises.
  • Trigger exercises (hands and feet)

FINISH. DISCUSSION. QUESTIONS.

Day 2

9.30am - 10.30am

  • Warm up. Nei gong. Punching with kicking.
  • Revision of previous day's exercises and theory.
  • Beginning with standing.
  • Santi (Trinity posture).

BREAK. DISCUSSION. QUESTIONS.

10.45am - 11.45am

  • Outside gate. Outside gate with kick and other variations.
  • Introduction to basic chi gerk (sticking feet).
  • Foot/kick jamming on straight kick.
  • Adaptability of all skills.
  • The importance of sticking.
  • Basic introduction to entry technique (pole optional).
  • Explanation of spirit emphasis. The missing ingredient for jin.

FINISH. DISCUSSION. QUESTIONS.

COURSE CERTIFICATE PRESENTATIONS.

YOU WILL NEED:- Flat soled shoes (not thick soled trainers or running shoes), Plimsolls or canvass deck shoes are ideal. Comfortable losse fit track bottoms, t-shirt and sweatshirt/sports top.
